Cabernet Sauvignon

Lithology Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon proudly stands as one of the three cornerstone wines in the Lithology portfolio. This wine is assembled each vintage with fruit from among Lithology’s acclaimed single-vineyards in the and other esteemed vineyards in the Napa Valley AVA.

A complex blending program, working from 60 barrels and multiple lots, tasting for structure from mountain fruit tensions to softer, plush valley floor mouthfeel.  Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine, on occasion includes small percentages of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, or Malbec.

The 2016 season started early and unfolded with near-perfect conditions: no extreme heat, and a steady, mild July and August. Warm days at the close carried each site to full ripeness. This Cabernet Sauvignon (91%) and Cabernet Franc (9%) draws from St. Helena (50%), Rutherford (41%), and Oakville (9%).

Aromas of ripe blackberry and olive carry peppercorn and anise. The mid-palate is full and long, with wet stone and dust minerality and fine, grippy tannins. The finish is prolonged and savory, with cocoa and cedar.

95 Points Jeb Dunnuck

"... the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Lithology Napa Valley is the appellation blend from the estate, coming from multiple vineyards and brought up in 59% new French oak. It offers a ripe, sexy, incredibly textured style as well as tons of blackcurrants, blackberries, and cassis fruits, full body, tons of sweet fruit, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It's rich and powerful yet also incredibly pure and graceful."
